Measures to keep your children safe

This page provides you with new updates we have made to the Nursery due to the Covid-19 crisis and information that will help limit the spread of infection. Please be assured that we follow national guidance to protect the health of all the children in our care, for parents who currently have their childcare needs met by us we have new procedures in place for the foreseeable future to deal with health and safety due to Covid-19.

Drop off/collection, bags & opening hours

We have implemented new procedures and drop off doors, including floor markings for the following:

  • Babies – TBC
  • Toddlers – TBC
  • Pre-school – TBC

A Hand sanitizer stations are situated at each entrance and children will be asked to wash and sanitize their hands on entering and leaving the nursery with a staff member.

Pushchairs and Bags

  • At least 2 changes of clothes for ALL children with names clearly marked inside them as we will no longer be able to supply children with changes of clothes for the foreseeable future.
  • Nursery shoes/ slippers will now be required so the children can change their footwear when entering and leaving the premises.
  • We ask that no toys be bought in from home and all pushchairs and prams will no longer be able to be left at the Nursery.

Social Distancing and play

We have implemented social distancing where as much as possible. Children will now be placed into ‘Social Bubbles’ in line with government guidelines. This means numbers will be kept low and your child will remain in the same ‘social bubble’ with the same children and staff as much as possible while attending nursery. Children will not be able to roam free around the Nursery but will be able to move around in their little social bubbles together.  Some toys and soft furnishings have been removed for example sand, soft toys cushions, hand puppets etc.  for health and hygiene purposes. This is only short term we hope and will introduce items back into Nursery when we are given updated guidance.

Each child will have their own tray with play packs in of Crayons, scissors paint brushes and other craft items.

Immunisations

As your child will be mixing with other children, it is important that they are protected and up-to-date with their immunisations. You can access further information about the immunisation schedule at: http://www.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/888/page/59487

If you think your child has missed any vaccinations, please contact your general practice to arrange an appointment. You can also ask your health visitor for advice.

What we as a business have implemented around the nursery

  • Revised our Health and Safety policy
  • Revised statement of purpose
  • All carpeted areas have been thoroughly deep cleaned
  • Hand sanitized stations at every entrance
  • Hand washing areas have now been added to the outside areas
  • A new outside classroom has been built giving more space for ‘bubbles of children ‘
  • A new garden planting area is in place for children to grow their own vegetables and plants also giving more space again for social distancing
  • CCTV cameras are in all areas of the Nursery for safety. These are not for parental use but for monitoring and child/staff safety
  • Ring doorbells at the front and rear of the Nursery for easier communication
  • Where staff are absent due to being worried about catching the virus, we will operate mixed ratios for as long as ratios can be maintained.
    If there is not enough staff to meet ratios, a decision will be made to close a certain room. Reduced hours of opening may be needed. Staff and parents to be made aware of this.
  • If a child becomes unwell or is symptomatic we will contact the parents/guardian for immediate pick up. The child will be isolated in a room with a member of staff who will be provided with PPE and the child made comfortable until collection.
